Today's promotion/regulation series final saw Kyoto promoted to J1 at the expense of relegated Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Next year's J2 will be made up of the following teams, in what is the traditionally used "seeded order", that is to say, placed in order of position at the end of the previous season. It takes into account the strength of one division over another, and may not be an accurate ranking when one considers the fairly good quality of JFL's 2nd place Kumamoto and the abysmal performance of J1's Yokohama which could have placed last place in J2 let alone J1 with the play it showed this season.
J2 in 2008:
Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Ventforet Kofu
Yokohama FC
Vegalta Sendai
Cerezo Osaka
Shonan Bellmare
Avispa Fukuoka
Sagan Tosu
Montedio Yamagata
Ehime FC
Thespa Kusatsu
Mito HollyHock
Tokushima Vortis
Rosso Kumamoto
FC Gifu
